Upon arrival at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee (Leh) Airport, you will be received and transferred to your hotel in Leh for check-in and rest to acclimatize. Later in the day, proceed for local sightseeing including the serene Shanti Stupa offering panoramic views of Leh, followed by a visit to the historic Leh Palace. In the evening, explore the vibrant Leh Market for shopping and local experiences before returning to the hotel for overnight stay.
After breakfast, head out for a full-day excursion towards Sham Valley. Visit the sacred Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, followed by the fascinating Magnetic Hill. Continue to the scenic Sangam Valley and witness the stunning Sangam Point where the Indus and Zanskar rivers meet. After spending time at these iconic spots, return back to Leh for an overnight stay.
Post breakfast, begin your journey from Leh to Nubra Valley via the famous Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Enjoy breathtaking views as you descend into the beautiful Nubra Valley. Upon arrival, visit the iconic Diskit Monastery, known for its giant Maitreya Buddha statue, and later explore the cold desert at Hunder Sand Dunes where you can also enjoy a camel ride (optional). Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
After breakfast, depart from Nubra Valley towards Pangong Lake via the scenic Shayok route passing through Shyok, Durbuk, and Tangtse. This offbeat route offers mesmerizing landscapes and fewer crowds. By afternoon, reach the breathtaking Pangong Lake, famous for its changing shades of blue. Spend the evening enjoying the serene beauty of the lake before settling in for an overnight stay near Pangong.
Drive to Tsomoriri Lake. It is a breathtaking journey on a trail that is literally a ‘no mans’ land. Vast lonely stretches on the Chanthang plateau makes this drive one of the best isolated drives of this tour. Enroute visit the faraway settlement of Chusul. Tsomoriri is situated at an altitude of 4511m above sea level; with an area of about 140 Sq.km. Spend your evening watching shadows of the surrounding mountain and the varying depths of Tsomoriri lake.
After breakfast retrace the route down to Puga Sumdo and then follow the road across the Polokongka Pass to visit Tsokar Lake, further take the Manali-Leh road to return to Leh, crossing Taglang-la Pass (alt: 17,585ft). Visit Shey Monastery (former royal palace with a large Buddha statue), Thiksey Monastery (a grand monastery resembling Potala Palace), and Hemis Monastery (the biggest and richest monastery in Ladakh). Also visit Sindhu Ghat (a peaceful riverbank on the Indus) and Druk White Lotus School (famous from the movie 3 Idiots ). Overnight stay in Leh.
