Tour Overview

The Manali – Jispa – Baralacha Pass Expedition is one of the most thrilling high-altitude road journeys in the Himalayas, offering a perfect blend of adventure, scenic beauty, and raw mountain landscapes. This expedition follows a section of the famous Leh–Manali Highway, taking travelers deep into the rugged terrain of Lahaul Valley and beyond.

Starting from the charming hill station of Manali, the journey quickly transitions from lush green valleys to dramatic barren mountains as you pass through the iconic Atal Tunnel into Lahaul. The route then leads to the peaceful Himalayan village of Jispa, situated at around 3,200 meters, making it an ideal stop for acclimatization and overnight stay.

The highlight of the expedition is crossing the mighty Baralacha Pass, located at an altitude of approximately 4,850–4,890 meters (around 16,000 ft). This high mountain pass is known for its surreal landscapes, snow-covered surroundings even in summer, and breathtaking panoramic views. It also serves as a historic junction connecting Lahaul, Ladakh, and Spiti regions.

Along the way, travelers witness stunning attractions like Deepak Tal and Suraj Tal, one of the highest lakes in India, nestled just below the pass. The terrain gradually shifts from green valleys near Manali to cold desert landscapes, giving you a true taste of the trans-Himalayan environment.

This expedition is ideal for adventure seekers, bikers, photographers, and nature lovers who want to experience high-altitude travel without going all the way to Leh. The journey typically covers around 190 km from Manali to Baralacha Pass and takes 7–9 hours with scenic stops.

Due to the extreme altitude and weather conditions, the route remains open mainly from May to October, and proper acclimatization, warm clothing, and cautious travel are essential.

Why Choose This Expedition?

  • High-altitude Himalayan adventure

  • Stunning views of snow-capped peaks and glaciers

  • Unique transition from green valleys to cold desert

  • Perfect short expedition for Leh-Ladakh experience

This Manali–Jispa–Baralacha Pass expedition is not just a journey—it’s an unforgettable Himalayan experience filled with thrill, serenity, and unmatched natural beauty.
